The Lake City Education Foundation is honored to offer the first endowed academic chair in the Lake City School District in memory of Catherine (Cathy) Anne Nichols, a beloved former teacher in the district who passed away unexpectedly July 7, 2018. This endowed chair will grant a financial gift(s) up to $2,000 to a selected teacher(s) on an annual basis. Before building a successful hotel business, Cathy committed 14 years to elementary special education. Cathy continues to teach, demonstrating to us through this opportunity how educational philanthropy can inspire others and the many ways we can make a difference. Thank you to Cathy’s family – Mark, Patrick, Emily, and Justin – for making this opportunity possible.

Applications that offer educators individualized growth and development opportunities are preferred. Please include details about how this opportunity will expand your impact as an educator. Applications that include travel, unrelated to attendance of professional associations and continuing education credits, will be weighted positively. The ideal applicant would not utilize the award for purchases of equipment or supplies. The award is intended to be utilized before August each year but exceptions may be made upon request.

Please submit application details here.

Please email lakecityeducationfoundation@gmail.com should you have any questions while completing the application.

Best of luck!
